Today I have a fun little DIY tutorial for you. It's super cute and super easy.
First I want to talk to you about the lovely Two Berry Creative, our newest sponsor. It's a wonderful shop filled with loads of pretty things that I adore! Things like chevron washi tape, limeade bakers twine, polka dot paper straws, stamped wooden cutlery, hot pink mini clothespins and loads more.
Two Berry Creative has a huge selection of craft, party, packaging and decor supplies. Anything from tags to bags, stencils to bunting, tins to tape. It's really my kind of shop and I think you'll like it too!
They even have an ongoing contest where you can win a store credit when you submit photos of your creations with their amazing products. It's on their blog where they share all sorts of fun DIY ideas and printables. You should really check it out!
They were nice enough to send me some goodies to play with like stainless steel drinking straws, a bundle of different paper straws, blue lattice washi tape, birds on a wire washi tape, raspberry glitter tape and some yellow bakers twine.
I have a huge washi tape addiction as you can see by the photo above and I love any excuse to use the amazing stuff to make ordinary things pretty. I brightened up these average glass canisters I found at the dollar store with some of the pretty blue lattice washi tape which, as luck would have it, matches my upstairs bathroom shower curtain perfectly with colour and pattern. Can't get any better than that!
Today I was surprised by this mysterious giant box on my doorstep. I was thrilled to discover that it was addressed to me from Kraft Canada and nestled inside was this beautiful gift basket filled with an assortment of Kraft goodies including my very own Real Women of Philadelphia apron!
It was been a real joy to contribute to Real Women of Philadelphia these past few months by becoming a Philly Ambassador. Kraft wanted to thank me for all my yummy posts, photos and recipes, but really I feel like I should be the one sending them a gift basket!
As a way for me to return the favour to them and to all of you who followed the excitement over on Real Women of Philadelphia, I'm giving away TWO Kraft gift baskets just in time for the holiday season! Enter now and you might be one of the TWO lucky winners!
Please welcome to the Hot Polka Dot family two new sponsors!
The first is Ezebee, a unique international community and marketplace where people looking to buy or sell creative handmade products can meet. You can find everything from trendy chevron change purses to gold and pink leather wrap bracelets, colourblock faux leather pencil skirts to industrial steampunk lighting, origami crane mobiles to knitted infinity scarves.
What I love most about Ezebee is that, unlike other online craft showrooms, it's totally free of charge to create your own shop and sell your beautiful wares. They also don't claim a commission on any of the sales. As a former Etsy shop owner I can tell you that's a pretty big deal. They even offer a bunch of ways to customize and market your shop. The site was recently redesigned to be streamlined, efficient and super cute. Check it out!
The second is Beutiful Magazine, a forward-thinking online magazine that touches on subjects like equality, racism, self confidence, eating disorders, well-being and happiness. All powerful thought-provoking subjects that we so often ignore. It's important to note the intentional misspelling of beautiful. Beutiful Magazine is not about about mascara, skinny jeans, nail polish, weight loss or hairspray. It's about loving yourself for who you are, breaking the mold and letting go of the ridiculous expectations we place on ourselves. It's about being you.
This is a message that I think we can all agree on, but so often forget. Especially as a woman, I know that we put ourselves down, judge ourselves too harshly and hold ourselves to impossible airbrushed photoshopped standards. Our “flaws” as we call them are what make us unique, special and beautiful. As Colin Firth said so eloquently in Bridget Jones's Diary “I like you, very much. Just as you are.”
If you've been following me on Facebook and Twitter, you might have noticed some yummy new posts that I've been sharing the last few weeks. Maybe you've caught a few exciting announcements about new friends and new partnerships.
Those of who haven't are probably very confused right now. Allow me to fill you in!
I'm happy to officially announce to you that I've become a Philly Ambassador for Real Women of Philadelphia! I've joined a great group of like-minded individuals that appreciate family, food and definitely Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese! Every month, along with my fellow Philly Ambassadors, I'll be contributing tasty recipes, handy tips and fun tutorials all about ways to creatively use your favourite bagel spread.
I hope that you'll visit Real Women of Philadelphia and join us in our discussions about loving life and having fun with food. You can check out the huge index of recipes created by loyal members and dedicated contributors like myself.
I've already posted a fun and easy tutorial on how to make chocolate curls like the pros. I've also shared a simple yet impressive picnic-friendly dessert that will make your mouth water called Blueberry Lemonade No Bake Cheesecake. You're going to love what's in store next month so make sure to check back again soon!
To celebrate, I thought you'd all enjoy a giveaway courtesy of our friends at Kraft! Enter to win a Kraft gift basket that includes an assortment of Kraft products and a Real Women of Philadelphia apron and spatula! Everything you'd need to get creative in the kitchen!
...There's a lot of it going on around here.
